Harpiya Navy

This illustration shows the relative sizes of the combat vessels deployed in the Galactic Navy of the Harpiya Empire.
The smallest ship is the Corvette Class. Like the rest of the fleet, these are propelled by a Vortex Drive engine. It's a design copied from the Sentran Kingdom's ships. But, of course, the Sentran themselves "borrowed" the technology.  This ship's main attribute is speed and maneuverability. It has excellent trans-atmospheric flight characteristics. Armor and weapons are modest although it is nuclear weapon capable. Typically these are tasked with precision ground attacks or planetary defense.

The Frigate Class vessels strike a balance between maneuverability and fighting capability. They are small enough to be produced in large numbers. Armament includes bombs, missiles and one plasma cannon. The cannon is located at midship in a turret located on the bottom. These ships are capable of trans-atmospheric flight and are often used as heavy bombers. They can also deliver an assault force to the surface.

Cruisers are in many ways the most powerful ships in the Harpiya Galactic Navy because they are so heavily armed. Cruisers have four large turrets, each of which contains multiple offensive and defensive weapon systems. Plus there is a docking bay on the bottom that can carry a few fighters or shuttlecraft. Furthermore these ships are outfitted with FTL space-folding drives as well as stealth field generators. But they are not well suited for trans-atmospheric flight. After launch they rarely return to the surface.

The Harpiya Empire Galactic Battleships are designed to launch devastating long range attacks. A large portion of this vessel consists of a giant plasma cannon. This weapon can fire massive bursts of charged particles at hundreds of kilometers per second (sort of like a coronal mass ejection). It's also equipped with two weapons turrets - a large one on the bottom and a smaller on top. These ships have advanced space-folding FTL drive, but are not capable of trans-atmospheric flight. A major feature is the four docking stations for transporting other ships (including transport through folded space). Battleships often transport frigates or corvettes which themselves lack FTL drive.
